Beam Erector (JSHB Double Truss Series)

a. Introduction 

JSHB Series Beam Erector is a Double Truss Launching Gantry for simply supported precast Beam installation.

This machine has been widely used to install precast be amand is proven to be a very successful method in terms of speed and safety.

Standard Model up to 60m span length is available. From confirmation of order to the ex-work condition can take as short as 2 months up to a maximum of 4 months depending on the model of the Double Truss being chosen.

All Beam Erectors are designed with transportation in mind. The Main Truss comes modular and can be split and packed into a 40 footer container. The containers are transported with normal tractor trailer to the site. All connections are either bolted or pined for easy detachment.

Under normal condition it takes 2-4 weeks for assembly at site Advantages.

b. Advantages

A Beam Erector provides number of advantages compare to Mobile Crane lifting.

1. For site with difficult terrain, Beam Erector gives unbeatable advantage when mobile crane lifting became too expensive or not feasible.

2. For environmentally sensitive sites where the minimum impact to the surrounding is very important.

3. One operator with centralized control device enhances the safety during the operation.

4. Faster speed with the operation free from the influence of the condition underneath the bridge. This is an important difference compare to Mobile Crane lifting when it comes to urban construction where interruption with the road user can be minimized.

5. The capacity of the Beam Erector is not affected by the height of the pier.

6. Beam Erector does not need the ground preparation. Everything can be carried out on top above the pier. This is especially useful for construction in swampy area.

7. Nowadays roads are becoming wider. Beam Erector is not affected by the width of the bridge. Theoretically it can side shift without limitation as long as the transverse rails are installed. Therefore since there will be no resetting of the Machinery within each span it could complete more beams per day.

c. Various Types

There are basically 2 different models of Double Truss Beam Erector. The difference lies on the Precast Beam delivery.

1. A Beam Erector that could travel back several spans to lift the Precast Beam directly from the tractor trailer, relocate the precast beam forward by several spans to the installation span and install the beam to the final position.

2. A Beam Erector that lifts the precast beam from the tractor trailer or trolley, relocating the precast beam forward for one span and install the precast beam to the final position.

Both of the models described above are able to pick up the precast beam from the ground with extended Transverse Beam to allow the Beam Erector to cantilever out from the edge of the bridge. The speed of lifting is tailor made to suite the requirement of the contractor.
